Lansing Area African American Genealogy Society: Local History Abounds in Lansing
The Lansing Area African American Genealogy Society (LAAAGS) and the Fred Hart Williams Genealogy Society from Detroit took a trip to Cass County, MI in June of 2009. They followed the Underground Railroad route that was used in the county during slavery. The Underground Railroad historical marker is in Vandalia, MI, which became a city where runaway slaves settled on their way to Canada.
