LANSING, MI — Vendor spaces and speaking opportunities are available. Since we have added a Disabilities section we are looking for people who want to discuss any portion of the wide issues regarding disabilities that touch families.
The State of Our Health : Through the Voice of Our People’s vendors will be available to provide information on health issues, life insurance, nutrition in an Exhibit Area located in the gymnasium.
There will be free prostate screenings from Noon – 4:00 p.m. There will be diabetes and blood pressure screenings from 1:00 p.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Dewitt’s Sierra Rose Farm miniature therapy horses will be available in the morning.
We will have a chiropractor on hand, insurance educators and a whole host of other vendors for you to talk to and we’ll encourage it.
There will also be a table display from Ending Stereotypes For America, who will have a booth that shows how all ethnic and racial groups have contributed to America.
Sparrow Diversity, Ingham County, The American Heart Association, GLAAHI and others will be in attendance.
The speaking engagements will be in the chapel.
Tentative Schedule (There will at least be three dynamic speakers for each session)
Introduction – 9:45 a.m. – 10:00 am
Disability – 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
Diabetes – 10:55 a.m. – 11:35 a.m.
Keynote Speakers – Christine Johnson and Jolinda Wade – Drugs, Homelessness and HIV – 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 pm
Cancer – 2:20 p.m.. to 3 p.m.
Stroke/ Heart -3:20 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Questions are encouraged.
It’s a well know fact that any of the above referenced diseases cause serious disabilities. Families struggle without the proper resources. We plan on having some there to talk to you.
If you can’t find information at the symposium, we will attempt to assist you in finding what you need.
This event is for everyone regardless of race or socioeconomic background.
Ms. Wade will also have giveaways from Dwayne Wade.
This is sure to be an action packed informative day.
