Bishop Alfred Singleton was born in Montgomery, Alabama on October 18, 1928.  He is the third oldest of seven children born to the late Willie and Verona Singleton.  Bishop Singleton was a member of a Methodist Church, but he also received Catholic teachings.
 
After completing his elementary education, he immediately enrolled in Cass Technical High School.  After Cass, he went on to attend Southwestern Adult School in Detroit, MI.
 
While there in Detroit, he visited the Greater Bethlehem Temple Church on 2238 Clinton Street, which was pastured by Bishop Samuel N. Hancock.  He was baptized in March of 1949.
 
He served a tour of duty with the United States Army during the Korean War, receiving technical training as a dispensary and a medical technician.  In 1952, he received an honorable discharge from service.
 
During his tenure in the United States Army, Bishop Singleton was stationed at San Antonio, TX.  While in Texas, he served as an Assistant Pastor under the leadership of District Elder Walls for almost two years.  After this, Bishop Singleton matured spiritually under the leadership of the late Bishop S.N. Hancock as an Assistant Pastor in Detroit, MI for four years.
 
In 1958, God called Bishop Singleton to California.  The doors of Greater Bethlehem Temple Church were opened in Los Angeles in 1959.  He went on to found and organize two other churches in the state:  Bethlehem Temple Church of Monrovia and the Bethlehem Temple Church of Harbor City.
 
Bishop Singleton served as the Diocesan Bishop of the State of California, the Eastern Southern States, and the State of Wisconsin. In 1961, he was promoted to District Elder.  He became Bishop in 1964 at the young age of  36 (one of the youngest in the P.C.A.F.)
 
In  1972, the Lord blessed Bethlehem Temple Church of Lansing, MI with the dynamic leadership of Bishop Alfred Singleton.  Since 1974, he has served as the Diocesan Bishop of the State of Michigan.  Bishop Singleton was the Treasurer of the PCAF since 1974, and is a Senior Bishop on the Board of Bishops.
 
In March 2000, at the Midwinter Convention that was held in Atlanta, GA, Bishop Singleton was elected and voted upon by the Board of Bishops and District Elders as the unanimous choice for the seat of Presiding Bishop of the PCAF.  He was installed in this office in the March 2001 Midwinter Convention in Florida.
 
Bishop Singleton has studied extensively.  He took courses at the La Salle University in Chicago.  He holds an honorary doctorate degree in Theology, and is Chief Executive Coordinator of the Michigan campus of the Midwest Apostolic Bible College.
 
Bishop Singleton has been preaching for nearly 60 years.  He was married to the late Mother Elizabeth Hawkins-Singleton for over 50 years.  They are the proud parents of 12 children:  Belinda, Ora, Patricia, Alfred Jr., Terrance, Verona, Debra, Andrea, Aaron, Camila, Frank and Catrese.  They have 29 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children.  He is currently married to First Lady Antoinette Singleton, whom he married on February 16, 2008.
 
The ministries of Bethlehem Temple Church also reach out to the Hispanic Community throughout Michigan, this ministry provides regular Sunday afternoon services and men’s and women’s fellowship throughout the week.

They also sponsor the Red Hacker Basketball Tournament. It will be held on August 15, 2009 from 7:30 a.m. to dusk.
 
They also have The Jephthah Youth Program, which is a GED program for youth ages 17-21.  They  provide supplemental mentoring and job skills/training.
