Erica N. Williams was born in Mission Hills CA, raised in Saginaw Michigan. She attended Saginaw Public Schools were she was a member of various school, church and community organizations. Erica in her senior year had the honor of receiving the Mayor’s Outstanding Youth Award and Scholarship and being voted by her peers the 1999-2000 Homecoming Queen of Saginaw High School.
Erica went on to graduate from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications & Film and Journalism. During her years at EMU she was a resident advisor, campus connector, student body representative, EMU Gospel Choir Member, Women’s Ministry leader of C.R.E.A.M (Christ Rules Everything around Me) ministries. She was also a member of the NAACP, Young Democrats of EMU and the 2003-2004 Eastern Michigan University Homecoming Queen.
Erica also attended Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts receiving a Master Certification in Broadcasting. During her years of school Erica completed internships at Community Television of Ann Arbor, FOX 2 News & WDIV Local 4 and CBS/UPN of Detroit, Black Entertainment Television in New York and the Eastern Michigan Football team.
Ms. Williams is currently a fill-in Reporter/Anchor at WQHH Power 96.5 & 1320 WILS news talk. Ms. Williams is also the host of The Entertainment Show on Public Access Television in East Lansing. Erica also works as a youth advocate for St. Vincent Catholic Charities.
Erica is very passionate about giving back to the community. Ms. Williams is an avid volunteer with Meals on Wheels, Boy & Girls Club of Saginaw, St. Vincent Catholic Charities Children’s Home, The City Rescue Mission, Ronald McDonald House of Lansing and The East Side Soup Kitchen of Saginaw. Ms. Williams is also the founder of Girls2Women a non-profit organization for mentoring girls from the age of 13-17.
Since coming to Lansing in 2006 Erica has been involved with numerous community events. She has also stared in various plays from the Greater Lansing Women’s Center “Vagina Monologues”, Capital Area Performers “What Would Jesus Do” and recently Riverwalk Theater’s Tribute to Black Theatre 2.
Ms. Williams is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, National Association of Black Journalists, Michigan Association of Broadcasters, National Council of Negro Women, The NAACP, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Bible Study Fellowship International and the National Black Theatre Association.
Erica’s believes that life is not about who we are but what we give. She has dedicated her life to advocating for youth, women and the homeless. Erica is a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and committed to the following of Jesus Christ. Ms. Williams tries to live daily by the Golden Rule “Treat others as you wish to be treated”. Erica knows that everything begins and ends with God and through him all things are possible.
Erica’s future plans are to open a free community center to meet the needs of many and to help implement programs in the community that will help change the lives of young people.
