A Basketball Camp for the Community

LANSING, MI — There is a new basketball camp in town this summer and its focus is on the community.  Introducing the Justin Ingram Triple Threat Basketball Camp, a week-long, low-cost camp for boys and girls in the third through eighth grades.  Not only will every camper receive the best in skills and drills instruction, but they will also leave camp with a t-shirt, poster and their very own basketball.  All for just $75.

The camp will be run by Justin and Alayne Ingram, both born and raised in Lansing and attended Waverly Community Schools.  Justin has just completed his fourth professional basketball season in France after stand-out careers at both the University of Toledo and Lansing Waverly High School where he was part of the 2000 State Championship team.

Justin is no stranger to giving back as he has been an integral part in camps and clinics around the world.

“I’ve been around basketball my whole life,” said Justin Ingram.  ”I saw people like my dad giving back to the community in his camps and speaking engagements so as a professional player, if I have the opportunity to give back and teach some of the lessons I learned growing up I’m going to take full advantage of it.”

Alayne Ingram was a four-year starter at Waverly and went on to become a record-holder at the University of Michigan.  Her jersey was retired at Lansing Waverlyand she left the University of Michigan program ranked in the top 10 in several statistical categories.  Since completing college, she has run camps, clinics and group work-out sessions for kids of all ages.

“We understand what it takes to be great basketball players but more importantly great people,” said Alayne Ingram.  ”When these campers walk into the gym, they will not only be surrounded by great role models on the court but exceptional role models off the court.  It is our hope that this first year of camp will set the bar for our camps in years to come.”

The camp will be held at Waverly High School because of its significance to both Ingram kids.

“It feels great to be able to run the camp at Waverly High School. This is where I graduated and I bleed black & gold!  When I first decided to run the camp the main objective was for it to be at Waverly. So I’m very pleased and thankful to the Waverly Community for allowing me to do this,” said Justin Ingram.
