LANSING, MI – Chong-Anna Canfora filed for the race for the Lansing City Council 4th Ward seat today, submitting nominating petitions with 150 signatures from neighbors in the ward.
“I’m excited to submit these petitions and make this campaign official,” said Canfora. “I’m ready to work hard all summer, have lots of conversations, and let the neighborhoods of the 4th Ward know I’m ready to represent them at the City Council.”
“I was excited when Chong-Anna said she was running and asked for my signature,” said 4th Ward neighbor Jillian Thelen. “She’s a wonderful neighbor and will do a great job looking out for us as homeowners and our neighborhoods. She’s just the right person to represent young families and seniors alike on the city council. I know she’ll always be there for us.”
“Getting out on the doors and attending neighborhood meetings to collect these signatures was a great experience. I was able to talk to neighbors and residents from all walks of life, from those just starting careers and families, to retirees and empty nesters, to those who have moved into the area to take jobs or care for loved ones,” said Canfora. “But I kept hearing many of the same themes. People want an active city council member who will be there for them. They want strong public safety and a city that stands up for quality-of-life issues and strong neighborhoods. I look forward to discussing these issues and to continue having conversations across the 4th Ward. I know that we can bring all of our neighborhoods together to move Lansing forward.”
