Midwest Bus Corporation, an Owosso, MI, UAW based, transit bus remanufacturer that also provides aftermarket replacement parts, used bus sales, bus leasing, and field services to the transit industry, announces that it is hosting a job fair for persons looking for manufacturing work. The event will take place on May 23rd from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at its headquarters, 1940 W. Stewart St. in Owosso.

The company has recently secured a significant amount of transit bus remanufacturing business, and is in need of hiring more than 50 employees to support this growth. These positions range from production-level jobs through supervisory positions, with all candidates needing to demonstrate mechanical aptitude, strong work ethic, physical capability to perform in a manufacturing environment and the willingness to comply with FTA drug testing requirements. Midwest Bus is a drug free/smoke free environment.

Interested parties are asked to bring resumes and will also need to fill out an employment application upon arrival. Afterward, there will be an opportunity to tour the facility and network with current Midwest Bus personnel. Baker College of Owosso’s Business & Corporate Services will be coordinating the collection of all information and will be following up with attendees on potential interviews. No hiring will take place on site.

“We know a lot of people with manufacturing experience have been out of work due to the economy, and are encouraging anyone seeking such employment to the come to event – we are looking to do a lot of hiring,” said company President Dan Morrill.

“Midwest Bus has been a 32-year plus member of our local industrial community, and we are excited to work with them in promoting this hiring event,” said Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership President/CEO Justin Horvath. “Many job fairs are held at neutral locations, with limited ability to interact with staff. Our hope is that by offering people the opportunity to see where they could be working, and meet those that they will be working with, will drive up turnout and ultimately result in more people being employed,” said Horvath.
