News Spotlight: State Police to Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting

 LANSING, MI —  On Tuesday, February  17, 2015, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Eaton County deputies responded to a call involving a vehicle in the ditch on Canfield Road in Eaton Rapids Township, Eaton County.  The responding deputies made contact with the occupant of the vehicle and observed a weapon.  During the course of this confrontation with the armed subject, two Eaton County deputies fired their weapons at the subject.  The subject was pronounced deceased at the scene from his injuries.

 
The deceased has been identified as Matthew Lundy, 32, of Charlotte.
 
The Michigan State Police (MSP) was requested by the Eaton County Sheriff’s Department to conduct the investigation into this officer-involved shooting.  Detectives from the MSP First District Special Investigation Section and the Lansing Post are currently investigating this incident.
 
This is an ongoing investigation.  Once the investigation is completed, it will be turned over to the Eaton County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
