News Spotlight: UPDATE!!! Early Morning Homicide Victim Named

UPDATE*** 

On Friday, June 12, 2015 at approximately 2:00 a.m. Lansing Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of S. Washington on a man down in the middle of the street. 
 

Responding officers arrived and located a man (victim) down in the middle of Smith Avenue close to S. Washington. The victim was unresponsive and had an apparent cut wound. He was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased. The victim was a 39 year old Lansing man.
 
On scene investigating officers developed information on a possible suspect in this assault/homicide. Officer’s located the suspect in a nearby apartment and arrested him without incident. Evidence with regard to this assault was also located. The suspect was transported to the Lansing Police Detention facility and is lodged. The suspect is a 43 year Lansing man.
 
Preliminary investigation into this homicide has discovered that the victim and the suspect knew each other and this was not a random act. The Lansing Police Department is confident there are no other outstanding suspects in this crime.
 
Lansing police detectives continue to investigate the sequences of events that led up to the assault/homicide. No other information is available at this time. Additional information will be shared in the near future.
 
 ****Ulises Corrales Vega, 43 year old Lansing man was charged with open murder, which is a felony. 

Vega’s next scheduled court appearance will be in 54-A District Court in front of Judge Hugh Clarke on June 26, 2015

The victim Phineas Prentice-Worth Oliver  was 38 years old and from Lansing, MI.
