“No power can withstand divine Love.” Could that possibly be true? Maryl Walters, a practitioner of Christian Science healing, finds this idea not only comforting and hopeful, but of proven practicality for finding solutions to all kinds of problems.
Walters will present a free talk, “The Healing Power of Divine Love,” on Sunday, February 25, at 2:00 p.m., in Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road, East Lansing.
The talk includes examples, from her public ministry, of how she has seen this divine Love bring peace, strength, and health to individuals, families, and communities. She will explore fresh concepts from The Bible, especially from the life and teachings of Christ Jesus. She’ll also draw on Mary Baker Eddy’s main work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, a book based on the Bible that explains how anyone can experience the practical power of divine Love in action.
“To me, divine Love is God,” says Walters in her talk. “If we think of things that make the world better—peace treaties, economic revitalization, higher employment, stable families, food distribution, civic respect and responsibility—the basic ingredient that makes these efforts helpful to humanity is love. Our expression of divine Love, moving each of us for good and bringing practical healing perspectives, is central to something as big as regional peace or as personal as feeding a child.”
Mrs. Walters, from St. Louis, Missouri, has advanced degrees in Theological Studies and is a longtime Christian Science practitioner. As a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, she speaks to audiences in the U.S. and internationally. She also represents the Church of Christ, Scientist, at the US National Council of Churches, and participates in other local and national ecumenical and interfaith organizations.
