Ingham County Board of Commissioners

         The Ingham County Board of Commissioners is the governing body for the County of Ingham, exercising legislative and administrative functions. There are sixteen members on the Board, each elected on a partisan basis for two year terms from districts that are approximately equal in population. The City of Lansing, which is the Capitol of the State of Michigan, is located within Ingham County.
     The primary functions of the Board of Commissioners include determination of type and level of County services, adoption of County budget, equalization of property values, legislative oversight services provided by Ingham County, appointment of various advisory boards and commissions, and county officials.
      Mr. Copedge is  employed with the State of Michigan in the Department of Environmental Quality as a Senior Environmental Engineer.  He is  a Flint, Michigan native, a Michigan State University graduate with a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering, and a resident in the Lansing Area for more than 30 years.
     He is a member of the Colonial Village Neighborhood Association; Everett High School Parent, Teacher, Student, Association; NAACP; A. Phillip Randolph Institute; Service Employees International Union;  Letts Community Center, Adult Advisory Board; Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated; Capitol Lodge No. 8, Free and Accepted Masons, P.H.A., and the Ingham County Democrat Party.
     He is  married to Doris Copedge, (a teacher in the Lansing School District, Everett High School Graduate, and a Lansing native) for more than 20 years, a father of 3 children who attended school in the Lansing School District: Salihah a freshman at Michigan State University; Dulles a junior at Everett High School; and Rashard a freshman at Everett High School. Union Missionary Baptist Church is our church home.
  His favorite past times include: networking in political think tanks, hunting, fishing, auto mechanics, and good music.
