By Kelsey SchellSummer is finally here! All across Michigan people are planning outdoor activities and taking advantage of relaxing in Michigan’s Great Lakes. Unfortunately, pollution can influence how much time we can spend outdoors and enjoy our waterways. Even though Lansing does not border one of Michigan’s Great Lakes, Lansing’s pollution can influence the quality of the water. Littering is a huge problem that can kill wildlife and marine life. One of the biggest forms of waste littered everywhere is cigarette butts.
Hundreds Celebrate Juneteenth
Shermaine Gardner, Jr. played the djemba drum at the Juneteenth celebration with Ayinde Fondren an African stiltwalker. He was the drumline section leader at Eastern High School from 2015-2017. The 18-year-old will be attending Full Sail University majoring in Music Audio Production.

News Spotlight: Lansing Police Department- Homicide Investigation
On Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11:50 am, the Lansing Police Department responded to the 1100 block of Ramada on a call of an unresponsive subject. While conducting their investigation, Officers located the female subject non-responsive within a motel room. Lansing Fire Department responded to the scene and determined the female to be deceased.
