    Six years ago, Mark and Sarah were on a cruise ship touring the South Pacific when a violent tropical storm damaged the ship’s hull. Several passengers were knocked overboard and into the dark churning waters nearly 50 feet below. Mark and Sarah were two of the passengers who plunged into the cold waters that night. They frantically grabbed pieces of debris and hung on tight, doing whatever they could to keep their heads above water.

    This past summer was packed with entertaining music festivals. Those willing to make the trek to Detroit, MI enjoyed the “true extravaganza”, with “Sing the Truth” featuring Angelique Kidjo, Dianne Reeves and Lizz Wright honoring the legacies of Miriam Makeba, Abbey Lincoln and Odetta. “Sing the Truth” – a special production that honors great women in jazz, folk, R&B, gospel and the blues, is making just three appearances in North America, and only one of those performances, the one in Detroit, was free.

    A 30 year old mother of two has been having joint pains and chest pain for several years.  She has been to several doctors for her symptoms and had numerous ER visits.  She also had a miscarriage when she was in her mid-twenties.  On her last visit to the doctor she was referred to a rheumatologist for further evaluation because she had an unusual rash on her face that resembled a butterfly.  At the rheumatology appointment she finally gets a diagnosis of lupus.
