I am sure that you have noticed plenty of changes in the newspaper over the past 10 years. In 2010, we started to let our actions speak louder than words when we began to focus on a mission of enhancing your experience with us. We offer a unique perspective but we publish every two weeks.

LANSING, MI — Mighty Medicine, soul rock duo, is helping to organize a benefit concert Saturday, January 8th from 4pm-10pm at Everybody Reads Bookstore located at 2019 East Michigan Avenue in Lansing, MI. The proceeds from this concert will support the Bucoseh Orphanage and school in Haiti. Mighty Medicine is guitarist and folk instrumentalist, Larry Neuhardt and vocalist and percussionist, DeShaun Sparkle Snead.

Several weeks ago at a fundraising event, I was introduced to a man in his late 40s. He had perfect hair, a GQ grin and was dressed impeccably in a custom suit. The only thing that sparkled more than his white teeth was his gold Rolex. As I was shaking his hand, I immediately assessed what kind of person he was, but, after speaking with him, my initial characterization was destroyed and so was my spirit.
