 Twenty-five years ago, Darryl Burton was convicted of capital murder and armed criminal action in a St. Louis, Missouri, trial court. His conviction has all the characteristics of a wrongful conviction: “eye witness” informants, ineffective trial counsel, and an array of procedural obstacles which all combined to leave Mr. Burton trapped in a Missouri prison for 24 years. The Sikh Indian Day Parade is Set

 LANSING, MI – Sikh  (pronounced “seek”)  Indians in colorful saris, shalwar kameez’ and saffron (a deep orange color) turbans will gather at Louis Adado Park on Grand Ave., in downtown Lansing,MI, to celebrate Vaisakhi.   

 
Last year there were over 2,000 participants.  Vaisakhi is the joyous festival that celebrates the founding of the Sikh community and the first harvesting of the crops for the year in the Punjab region. 
 
The festival is on April 17, 2010.  The parade begins at 12:00 p.m. and the cultural program begins after the parade. Sikhs and visitors come from all over the country to partake in the events.     Free Indian food.  Everyone is invited.
