‘UGLY QUILT’ DAY PLANNED AT MSU MUSEUM
The sign in front of a shopping cart that only holds an “Ugly Quilt” made from scraps states: Sometimes quilts and quiltmaking are the cornerstones of projects designed to raise awareness and to directly address human rights issues. Some are single quilts made by single makers. Others are the results of projects engaging thousands in activism. For instance, the NAMES Project raises awareness of AIDS and the Ugly Quilt Project addresses of AIDS and the Ugly Quilt Project addresses the needs of the homeless in a tangible way.
