EAST LANSING, MI— The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) announced today that they have identified a person of interest in connection with a double homicide investigation that began earlier this month. The person of interest has been confirmed deceased, according to police officials.
The investigation began on November 7 when officers responded to a suspicious situation call at approximately 12:08 p.m. at a residence in the 1500 block of Wintercrest Street. Upon investigation, authorities determined that a homicide had occurred.
The names of the victims and their potential relationships have not been released to the public at this time. The processing of evidence and identification of the victims remains ongoing.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are collaborating on the investigation, including the Michigan State Police Crime Lab and the Ingham County Medical Examiner’s Office. ELPD detectives continue to process evidence and follow up on emerging leads.
“ELPD is committed to a thorough investigation,” the department stated in their press release. The police are requesting public assistance in gathering additional information about the incident.
