Plain Talk 7-19

By Frank Risper

Run for your lives the sky is falling. The sky is falling! That’s what Mr. Bush would have us to believe. Gloom and doom that’s just what we need to hear from our leader or is it?

First, we are told that the economic outlook is steady and we’ll make it through this. Shortly thereafter, the Dow Jones dropped 700 points and Mr. Bush is looking at us with a straight face and is asking for $700 billion to bailout Wall Street.

I don’t know about you but that deal smells a little fishy to me.   The vote was 263-171. Forty minutes later, Mr. Bush signed the bill into law, he moved swiftly on that. That alone should make you think that something is wrong! Because the way that I see it the only time that Mr. Bush moves that fast is to help his friends, the upper crust folks. The “rich and trying to get richer at someone else’s expense” type folks are benefiting.

Well it’s too bad that we’ve found ourselves in this position.  We’ve no one to blame but ourselves, we put Bush into office.  I didn’t vote for him. But many of you did. Let’s not make the same mistake again. During the up coming election for the presidency of the United States please vote, your vote does count.

We need a change and change is not spelled M-c-C-a-i-n. We need to get it right this time. I believe we can make it back if we select, Sen. Barack Obama as our next president. And to anyone out there who feel that they cannot vote a black man or a woman into office, you need to get over that.

Times have changed and you need to change as well. My wife runs this news paper pretty much by herself with only her guts and brains.   In my opinion, she gets very little respect for her efforts in the mainstream. I see that happening just about every day and it is not fair that people be judged by their race, sex or ethnicity.  This makes no difference to the bottom line when it comes to the ability to get the job done.
