LANSING, MI — Lindsay Huddleston recently decided to take a position as Senior Manager of Public Affairs and Governmental Relations in Michigan and Ohio for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. His responsibilities will include representing Wal-Mart’s interests to state and local government officials, opinion leaders, local media and community groups.
Huddleston said that he has plenty of work ahead of him in this challenging new position but will play an integral role in shaping Ohio and Michigan’s view of Walmart.
Wal-Mart is a Fortune 2 Corporation with fiscal year 2009 sales of $401 billion. Wal-Mart employs more than 2.1 million associates worldwide. As a leader in sustainability, corporate philanthropy and employment opportunity, Wal-Mart ranked first among retailers in Fortune Magazine’s 2009 Most Admired Companies survey.
Huddleston said, “For these reasons along with these unique economic times (especially the past three to six months), I have been presented and accepted an offer I could not refuse.”
His journey with Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm began on her campaign in 2002, then he moved on to being the Advance Staffer in Scheduling, a Advance Stafferin the Legal Department and most recently served as the Deputy Director for Legislative Affairs. He was chosen for The New Citizen Press’ Best Brightest and Most Beautiful edition in 2005.
“The six and half years that I have been a member of Governor Jennifer M. Granholm’s administration has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. I cannot thank the Governor and First Gentleman enough for their outstanding leadership during these historically difficult times. Most importantly, I am thankful for the moral standard they set and integrity they have displayed during my time in this administration,” added Huddleston.
