Tiara Adams was born in Lansing, Michigan. She is the daughter of Ricky and Tonette Adams. She has two siblings, a sister Brandy Adams and a brother, Keith Adams Withers. Tiara was raised with Christian values and a desire to study hard. She wanted to be successful in her choices in life. Her favorite color is red, the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. These are some of the characteristics that make up Tiara Adams.

Tiara attended Waverly Middle School and Waverly High School. It was in the Waverly School district that she discovered her love for basketball, which was shared by her sister. They could often be found in the gym, the YMCA, a neighborhood court; anywhere that a basketball hoop was found. Tiara graduated in 2007. Although she did not receive a basketball scholarship to attend college, she was determined to attend college.

She enrolled at Ferris State University seeking a degree in computer technology. There she inquired about the Ferris State basketball program, and was told that there was not a place for her on the team, and that she would probably not make the cut if there was space. These words only made Tiara more determined to reach her goal. Through hard work, discipline, patience, and the support of a loving family, Tiara did make the team.

You could always find Tiara’s dad in the bleachers, (cheering on her, with that big smile) no matter where the game was being played. That same year she made the team, and received a three-year scholarship for being one of the best players on the team.

Tiara’s love for sports has spread among her family, younger members are now engaging in sports.  She has been a tremendous inspiration.

Tiara has another dream, and that is to walk in the shoes of Candace Parker, who is one of the best women basketball players of all times. There is little doubt that whatever Tiara’s goals are they will be met with grace and determination, supported by her faithful followers: her family.
