Twenty three years later, she will have the opportunity of a lifetime. She will be competing for Miss Michigan 2007 and the chance to represent the state of Michigan.
The 23 year old, was born and raised in Pontiac, Michigan, where she attended Notre Dame Prep High School.
Ms. Crenshaw currently resides in Lansing, Michigan, and she attends Michigan State University where she is pursuing a degree in Applied Engineering Science and a minor in Supply Chain Management. She on schedule to graduate in the Spring of 2007.
She is also passionate about fitness training, and enjoys teaching a wide variety of classes that include cycling, yoga, strength-training, physioball, boot camp, kickboxing, and aerobics.
Ms. Creshaw said with confidence, “I enjoy training people to have the mindset to be the best they can be and confidence in all they do. I really enjoy working with younger children and coaching basketball and track and field.”
Being involved with community is a passion for her. She said, “I want to help others be successful, and donate my time and energy into helping others in the community. Today, we need to take time out of our busy schedule to serve and to mentor to the less fortunate or to those in need. We need to develop a true agape love for each other.”
She stated that one of her true passions is to mentor to young girls and women. She feels that females need to be taught beauty is more than a pretty face and that true beauty comes from within.
She stated, "Today, there are so many people struggling with self-confidence and self-esteem problems. We need to support and empower them to love and respect their bodies. When women have these two qualities, there are able to be competitive and advance."
In addition to this, she stated that she wanted to make people more aware of environmental, social, health, inequality, and poverty issues. One her most important issue is education, which she feel is the key to unlocking minds and the path towards making people more conscience of what is happening around us.
She enjoys reading, writing poetry, cooking, working out, watching sports, especially football, boxing and basketball, making and collecting model cars. She also enjoys working with her church, Church of God International Outreach Ministry in Lansing.
As an entrant for the 2007 Miss Michigan USA State Event, Ms. Crenshaw will be competing with women from all over the state for the title and crown of Miss Michigan USA. The 2007 Miss Michigan USA Event is composed of three categories: Interview, Swimsuit, and Evening Gown. Each contestant will be scored by a panel of judges in all 3 areas. The 2007 Miss Michigan USA State Event is the official preliminary to the 2007 Miss USA Pageant which is televised live on NBC. The winner of the Miss USA National Event will then go on to compete with the most beautiful women in the world at the Miss Universe Competition.
The 2006 Miss Michigan USA will be held from Thursday, October 19th through Saturday, October 21st, 2006. The Presentation Show will be on Friday evening and the Final Show will be Saturday evening. The Host City for the state event is Port Huron, Michigan.
The Miss Michigan USA Pageant was designed to stress values, good morals, and hard work. It highlights self-confidence, superb communication skills, and an overall importance of positive role models in our youth and community.
Ms. Crenshaw stated, "By participating in this pageant, it will allow me to ability to help advance my career, personal, and humanitarian goals. Ultimately, it would put me in a position to help people become more aware, and to touch and inspire the world around."
