Insuring Safety

Each year, more cars and drivers hit the highways.  With so many vehicles on the road, crashes will happen.  Auto insurance can be the difference between a minor inconvenience and a major life change.  We need auto insurance for protection.  Not only does your auto insurance pay for physical damage to your car, but it provides vital protection for damage you may cause to others.  It also provides protection for injury to you or your passengers in your car from a crash plus certain other benefits.

The state of Michigan requires all motorists to carry liability coverage, personal injury protection and property protection.  The minimum liability requirements in Michigan are:
$20,000 bodily injury liability for one person,
$40,000 bodily injury liability for all injuries in one accident,
$10,000 property damage liability
Liability pays for damages due to bodily injury and property damage to others for which you are responsible.

Personal injury protection pays you or your passengers for medical treatment resulting from a crash regardless of who was at-fault.  It may also pay for lost earnings, replacement of services and funeral expenses.  Correct Personal Injury Protection coverage is vital because of the benefits of the coverage.

It is crucial that you keep your auto insurance in-force even when times are rough financially.  Not having auto insurance coverage or not having enough coverage can be very costly to you.  The average Michigan PIP claim in 2009 was $32,490. It’s imperative that you have a good relationship with your auto insurance agency because there may be options available for you to reduce your insurance premiums but keep the essential coverage in force.

Many people think of auto insurance as a necessary evil, but it can save your financial well-being.  Evaluate your needs, do your research and with the help of your insurance agent, make the decision that best suits you.
