Sometimes We Need A Break

Written by Frank Risper

Once again Fall is making its way into our lives and summertime gracefully steps to the side.

This is the natural progression of things and the way it should be.  This process is God’s will.

As the leaves turn from green to yellow, orange or red.  My mind starts to slow down.  This year has been a very busy year for me and it is just about that time for me to take a little rest for myself.

In my younger days, I might not even bother with resting at all. I did not need to.  But today is a new day and wisdom overshadows youthful exuberance.

So I am looking forward to that couple of days to  myself.  Do you ever think about giving yourself a couple of days?  Do you ever pamper yourself?

Just take a day to sit quietly and get into some focused relaxation.  Listen to some soothing music.  Light a candle.  Run some bath water.  Find your thickest most luxurious towel (if you don’t have one, next time you are out by two of them) and make a sign that says, "Do Not Disturb".

After you are finished, do some reading or take time to reflect.   Just spend the day in solitude and contemplation.

You know, you can spend so much time focusing on others and their needs that you forget  who you are.  Other people are always going to want or need something from you.  The question that you have tåo ask yourself is, "What do I want and need?  To ask that question and seek after the answer is not being selfish.  It is called being smart.

I want you to know that taking a day or two to get to know yourself again is all right.  You need that.

You know as well as I do that, we have hectic schedules and many demand for our time, but we will benefit from deserving a little time for ourselves.

We actually save time in the long run because when we are calm and centered, we are actually more effective.

Taking time out allows us to harness our energy and focus it in the right direction.

So take a break my friend.

Remember to keep the faith.  Trust in God only and seek after a pure heart.

God will be pleased.
