It’s still the same story, we often think we want what someone else has, not being satisfied with the juxtaposition of our own lives. You know how it is; if only I were taller, richer, or shorter, or skinnier, or had a house like my neighbor. But, the problem with having positioned your attitude in that way is, you really have no idea what the person’s life you envy is truly like. This is about your perception or lack there of. Your perception might be that they are living a fanciful life of folly and joy, when all the while it’s possible they are living a counterfeit life, one that you wouldn’t have anything to do with if only you knew. Tell me, who needs more financial problems, family drama, or sleepless nights?
Another problem with adapting thoughts of living outside of your own identity would be not giving intrinsic value to the person you are meant to be. God has given each one of us uniquely individual abilities, talents, and thoughts to create and prosper. And if we block the blessed gifts we’ve each been given, then we are selfishly not utilizing our potential to the fullest. We are simply wasting our time frivolously, paying homage to someone else’s business, rather than maximizing our own potential. Could this be a reason for seeking another persons life, lifestyle, possessions, the success and wealth you imagine they have acquired, whether it’s a celebrity or the neighbor down the road? Sometimes, your imagination can misguide you about another’s reality. That’s when one should be aware and acknowledge investing far to much time and energy in other individuals that are trying to impress the outside world.
Arguably, the fact of the matter is, we all have the same opportunities to acquire the things that we want, no matter what they may be. We may take different approaches to get to the same place, but the concept is still the same, if we are filled with drive, purpose, faith/spirit, inspiration, and a positive attitude that ones goals and objectives can be successfully accomplished, they will be realized. That’s the whole idea behind true faith and the willingness to believe that it will happen.
The key to acquiring the things that you want is to seek that which your heart and spirit desire, not that which you lust after. Wanting things because your eyes are fixated on them, with out genuine passion, particularly if it belongs to someone else, is never healthy. Someone else’s possessions and perceived attributes may come with a considerable amount of misrepresentation, unwise choices, and a host of undesirable problematic circumstances.
Do yourself a favor, be content with the person you are, identify what gives you comfort and move forward using the talents, your intelligence, your unique life experiences, and various other attributes that belong solely to you, that quite frankly someone else wishes they had. They are gifted to you for a specific reason. Being authentic to yourself is a selfless act because you are able to give freely to others without restraints. Undoubtedly, this will bring immeasurable joy to your life. Now, get inspired and motivated, and use your own incredible attributes! Start today, if not right now!
Be comfortable in your own skin.
