On Friday March 7th, 2014, at approximately 4:35pm, the Ingham County 9-1-1 Center received several 9-1-1 calls about two vehilces chasing and shooting at each other while travelling e/b on Miller from Wise. Within minutes of receiving the intial 9-1-1 calls, the 9-1-1 center advised responding officers that there was a shooting vicitim at the car wash in the area of Kaynorth and Miller.
Lansing Police Department Detectives who were in the area, witnessed one of the subjects attempting to flee the scene in a vehilce, near the intersection of Miller and Kaynorth. As the Detectives were following the vehilce, the driver reached out the drivers window and fired several shots in the direction of the Detectives vehilce.
LPD uniformed officers attempted to stop the accused vehicle in area of Miller and Washington, but the driver failed to stop. LPD pursued the accused vehicle to the 2000 block of Georgetown, where the accused subject bailed from the car and took off running. After a short foot pursuit, the accused was taken into custody without further incident.
During the vehilce pursuit, responding officers located one shooting victim at the car wash. The shooting victim, a 21 year old Lansing resident, was transported to a local hospital by the Lansing Fire Department. The victim sustained non-lifethreatening gun shot wounds and is listed in stable condition.
Officers at the shooting scene received information that there were several outstanding subjects that fled the scene on foot from the car wash. A LPD Canine Team conducted a canine track and successfully located a subject in the 5500 block of S. Cedar.
Additionally, there were several traffic crashes that stemmed from the two accused vehicles chasing each other that resulted in property damage, but no injuries.
As a result of this incident, the Lansing Police Department has arrested three male subjects. They are currently being held at the Lansing lock up facility, pending a review by the Ingham Co. Prosecutors Office. LPD will release additional information once the subjects have been arraigned.
