Lansing’s first homicide happened in the 3400 block of north Waverly Road just after midnight when police got reports of several shots fired.
Police found a 25-year-old shot and unresponsive on the ground in front of Mt. Vernon Lansing apartment complex .
Police say the shot was fired this morning after a confrontation between the suspect and the victim. They say the two knew each other and had a history.
The community and the detectives worked quickly. The 22-year-old suspect was arrested a few hours after the shooting happened.
He will be facing murder charges.
No information has been released about the identities of the victim or suspect.
