UPDATE: News Spotlight: Domestic Violence Double Homicide Suicide Investigation

The following information is preliminary in the investigation. It is likely that information and details in the investigation could/may change as the Lansing Police Department investigates further.
On Friday October 28th at approximately 1:20am, the Ingham Co. 9-1-1 Center received an anonymous call to check welfare of the resident who lived in a house in the 2900 block of Truman.
 
Upon arrival Officers entered the residence to check the welfare of the resident. Officers located 3 deceased subjects (2 males and 1 female all in their 20’s) with apparent gun- shot wounds.
Although the investigation is in the preliminary stages, the initial investigation and evidence supports a double murder suicide. Suspect Osby shot the female and male before turning the gun on himself. The Lansing Police Department is treating this as domestic related double homicide/suicide.

Latoy Mesha Tate, 29 yr. old Female, Lansing, MI
Xazier Charles Dean, 25 yr. old male, Lansing, MI
Suspect Information
Marcus Jamal Osby, 28 yr. old Lansing, MI
 
Ms. Tate and suspect Osby had two children in common of which were not at the house during the crime and are not injured.
Lansing Police Department continues to process the scene with the Medical Examiner’s Office. Lansing Police Detectives continue to conduct interviews and put together the events that led up to the shooting.
 
An autopsy will be conducted within the next 24-48 hours which is standard protocol and procedure
