**** UPDATE**** The 20 year old Mason woman that died as a result of injuries from the crash has been identified as Leocadia Lynn Marie Lovelace.
On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, just after 9 AM Ingham County Central Dispatch received a 911 call about a two-car accident at the US127 / I96 interchange. A vehicle traveling northbound lost control just south of I96 ran off the road and struck an unoccupied disabled vehicle that was on the side of the road.
The driver, a 20-year-old Mason woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A second occupant of her vehicle was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The highway was shut down for several hours but is now open. The crash is being investigated by the Ingham Regional Crash Investigation Team.
