The Greater Lansing Association of REALTORS® is 100 years old! Please help them celebrate by attending their GLAR Centennial Fest at Ferris Park in Lansing on June 16, 2007 from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 p.m. The public is invited for food, fun, kids Games, crafts, and antique and classic cars. At this event, a Playhouse will be raffled off. It was constructed and donated by an area home builder. You may purchase raffle tickets at the event.
Also, please attend their Open Houses as they Blitz the Greater Lansing Area with Open Houses on June 10, 2007. If you are looking for a home to buy, here is your chance to attend a record-breaking day of Open Houses!
If you would like to attend their Grand Gala Ball at the Lansing Center on June 23, 2007 from 5:30 p.m. until Midnight, please contact GLAR at 517-323-4090 to request an invitation. One of the highlights of the evening will be an Auction of two Playhouses that were designed and donated by two area builders.
The Auction of the Playhouses will benefit the Greater Lansing Housing Coalition. To be able to bid on these playhouses, you must either attend the Grand Gala or have someone who is attending place the bids for you.
Lansing Juneteenth Celebration
Celebrate the Capitol Kick-Off on Thursday, June 14, 2007 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event will be held on the “East Steps” of the State Capitol Building.
The Juneteenth Festival will be held at St. Joseph Park in Lansing, MI. It will be held on Friday, June 15, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. to dusk and on Saturday, June 16, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. to dusk. Bring your own lawn chairs.
TOUCH A TRUCK
The Lansing Police Department, North Precinct, in collaboration with the Police Athletic League, Lansing Community College, Lansing School District, and the HOPE Scholars program, are sponsoring a *Touch-a-truck* event day at the North Precinct, 740 May Street, on Saturday, June 16, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. They will have trucks from many different disciplines, including Semi-Trailer Trucks, Fire Engines, Police Vehicles, a CATA bus, an ambulance, a bucket truck, some Army vehicles and trash vehicles, as well as a cement truck and a wrecker.
They will have hot dogs and chips, face painting, balloons and music. This will be a family affair for anyone in the mid-Michigan area.
Many young people don’t see themselves as candidates for professions such as teaching, computer programming, or other typical office jobs. This would give them a glimpse of other awarding, high paying and challenging types of employment.
