LANSING, MI — The Ingham County Bar Association and Legal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM) are proud to present the annual “Ask A Lawyer” event, designed to provide members of the Lansing community with free legal consultations. The event will take place on October 17, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Capital Area District Libraries (CADL) Downtown Lansing branch, located at 401 S. Capitol Avenue. No appointments are necessary, and consultations are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
This event gives citizens the opportunity to speak with experienced attorneys about a variety of legal issues for up to half an hour at no cost. Whether you need guidance on family law, landlord-tenant disputes, criminal matters, or civil cases, “Ask A Lawyer” is a unique resource for those seeking clarity on their legal questions. However, it is important to note that the free legal advice provided does not create an attorney-client relationship or imply ongoing representation for your legal matter. The “Ask A Lawyer” event is designed to provide immediate assistance and advice on specific issues but does not extend beyond the consultation period. Attendees are encouraged to bring any relevant documents and information that might assist attorneys in understanding their situation and offering the best possible guidance within the allotted time.
One of the most important aspects of “Ask A Lawyer” is that it is open to everyone, regardless of income level. Unlike many legal services that are based on financial need, this event welcomes all community members to take advantage of this rare opportunity to access professional legal advice. For many, having the chance to speak to an attorney—especially for those unfamiliar with legal processes—can offer peace of mind and a clearer understanding of how to move forward.
As this event is held just once a year, it represents a valuable chance to receive timely legal insight at no cost. Legal Services of South Central Michigan and the Ingham County Bar Association are committed to making justice accessible to all, reinforcing their mission to support community members with practical solutions to their legal challenges.
