Best Brightest and Most Beautiful 2007: Pastor Nathan Dixon

8. Pastor Nathan Dixon
Pastor of Trinity African Methodist Church
Founder of Capital City Community Action Network

Pastor Nathan born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Illinois is a first generation preacher who wrestles daily with the art of preaching.  Despite the many accolades that he often receives; Pastor Nathan seeks to remain humble and a student of the craft.  After answering his call to ministry at the age of 15, while a sophomore in high school, Pastor Nathan went on to prepare himself for ministry by receiving his baccalaureate degree from Chicago State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology & Criminal Justice.
Upon graduation, Pastor Nathan went on to receive his Master of Divinity degree from Northwestern University -Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary.  While at Northwestern University, Pastor Nathan went on to become a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  Currently Pastor Nathan is working to receive his Doctorate degree from The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.
Before coming to the Lansing community, Pastor Nathan pastored for four years at his first church in Bloomington, Illinois.  While in the Bloomington-Normal community, he served the community well by fighting against gang and drug violence, serving as a guest columnist for the city’s newspaper, and serving the community through the many boards who had the opportunity to sit on, Youth Impact (Alternative High-School), MAPP (Minority & Police Partnership), The National Urban League, etc.  Rev. Dixon also served as a Commissioner on the Police & Fire Commission of Bloomington, Illinois.
Pastor Nathan is familiar with what it means to truly trust in the Lord, for it was in 1986 at the age of ten, when Pastor Nathan underwent major surgery to remove a tumor from the right side of his brain.  The surgeons, communicated his parents the possibility of partial blindness, paralysis, and even dwarfism; but the surgery was a success, and with the help of growth hormone, Pastor Nathan stands “head and shoulders” above the crowd at a height of 6′ 4” tall.
Pastor Nathan (30) is married to Lady Rolanda M. Love-Dixon, whom he refers to as “His Lady, His Bride, and His Chick on the Side!”  The two will celebrate their five-year wedding anniversary on June 9, 2007.
They have been blessed thus far with one daughter Makenzie Carrington Dixon whom is the first child born to be born to any pastor of Trinity A.M.E. Church.  All other pastor’s of Trinity had their children before coming to Trinity.
He is also the founder of the Capital City Community Action Network.
