Bunmi is a young high-tech entrepreneur who passionately calls the Greater Lansing area home. He is emotionally attached to the color green, because he is a huge Software development fan. Bunmi was born in Lansing, Michigan in 1977 while his Nigerian parents were attending Michigan State University for their Masters and Ph.D. in the Agriculture field. Leaving Michigan at age 5, he moved back to Africa with his parents, who went back to teach at the college level. Upon turning 21, Bunmi came back home to East Lansing, Michigan to start college and pursuit his entrepreneurial dreams in the “land of opportunities” – moving away from the depressed political and economic situation in his parent’s homeland.
Bunmi graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University with a major in Computer Engineering in 2000; he also has Microsoft certifications in Solution design (MCSD) and Application development (MCAD) in the Microsoft .NET platform. Bunmi has been developing software applications since 1990.
After his graduation in 2000, he became a Principal with Artemis, joining John Gilkey, in growing the enterprise. Artemis Solutions Group, founded in East Lansing in 1997, is one of Michigan’s leading IT consulting and development firms.
He is also the CEO of Enliven Software, an East Lansing-based LLC formed in 2006 that provides unique financial solutions to businesses, through its flagship e-Invoicing and e-Payment software, Fidesic.
Bunmi has been involved in various non-profit initiatives, especially ones that affect the Lansing community and kids.
Prior to Artemis, he owned and operated an independent software development firm (Splashers Technologies) started in 1995. His skills include technology consulting and sales, software engineering, process workflow and systems analysis, web & software development using contemporary development tools, middleware systems, and Database administration, business management and administration.
He served on the Mayor of Lansing’s Transition team task force responsible for Economic Development/Job creation/Converging technologies. He played a significant role in founding the Greater Lansing Area .NET usergroup. He is on the Advisory board for the Mid-Michigan Children’s Initiative (MMCI), a group that promotes philanthropic efforts to build research and pediatric clinical care benefiting the children of Mid-Michigan, especially in the area of Encology, Hematology and Cardiology. He also runs a mentoring program for the Boys and Girls club of Lansing, mentoring a group of young kids to help them realize their potentials by choosing career goals, and working hard towards those goals. Bunmi just got selected to join the board of the IAMCP west chapter (IAMCP – International Association of Microsoft Certified Partners).
