Kenneth A. Cole is Senior Vice President of Governmental Consultant Services Inc., more commonly referred to as simply GCSI. Celebrating its 25th year in business, GCSI is a bipartisan, multi-client lobbying firm that is the best organization of its kind in Michigan, according to the last three surveys of political clout conducted by MIRS newsletter and the EPIC/MRA polling firm.
Mr. Cole joined GCSI in 1999 and lobbies the Michigan Legislature and the Executive branch of state government on behalf of a number of the firm’s clients, including the City of Detroit, the Detroit Medical Center, Service Employees International Union and Genesee County.
Prior to joining GCSI, Mr. Cole was an award-winning journalist with The Detroit News, where he worked for eight years – six in Lansing and two as a political correspondent in the newspaper’s Washington, D.C. Bureau. A graduate of the prestigious University of Missouri – Columbia School of Journalism, Mr. Cole has been the recipient of several writing honors, including the Golden Quill Award from the Washington Automotive Press Association; Excellence in Journalism for Highway Safety Award from the National Safety Council; and the International Wheel Award from the Detroit Press Foundation.
The former adjunct professor of journalism at Michigan State University also previously worked for the Ypsilanti Press and the Jackson Citizen Patriot.
Married for 14 years, Mr. Cole and his wife, Debi, are the proud parents of a 7-year-old daughter, Payton.
