CADL-More Than Just Books

By Allie McLary

As a community’s hub for information, a library offers more than just books, storytimes and the summer reading incentives. In fact, these staples, found at every branch in the Capital Area District Libraries’ system, make up only a fraction of the services available.

“A library is more than a place where people can borrow books,” says Jeff Antaya, reference librarian at CADL South Lansing. “It’s a place to gain knowledge on a wide variety of issues that affect your life.”

With this in mind, CADL South Lansing is focusing some of their fall programming on senior living. Informational speakers on topics designed for seniors and their loved ones, including long term care planning, Medicare and residential care facilities, will provide relevant and reliable information that patrons sometimes have trouble finding.

“I think we all at one time or another know someone who needs help with aging planning and doesn’t know where to start,” Antaya shared. “I hope patrons walk away knowing what the next step is and where to go for further help.”

If you or someone you know is interested in senior care topics, start your fact-finding mission at these library events:

Wednesday, Oct. 3 – 6 p.m.
