Symposium on April 6, 2013
The Friends of Michigan History, Inc. and the Michigan Historical Center are partnering to put on a Symposium on April 6, 2013 at the Michigan Historical Center, which is located at 702 West Kalamazoo Street in downtown Lansing. The all day event is done as part of the Sesquicentennial commemoration of the American Civil War (1861-1865).

In 2013, Quvenzhané Wallis became the youngest person ever to receive a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her performance in “Beasts of the Southern Wild” (2012). She is also the first Academy Award nominee who was born in the 21st century. She will be playing the role of orphan Annie in an African-American film version.
