East Lansing Police Chief Search Begins with Community Survey

EAST LANSING, MI –The City of East Lansing is searching for a new police chief for the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) and is asking for feedback from the community via a survey.

“As we embark on the important journey of selecting our next police chief, we are reaching out to our community members to hear your views, desires and perspectives,” said East Lansing City Manager Robert Belleman. “Your input in this process is important to helping us find a leader who will best serve and protect our community.”

The survey, which can be completed in 3-5 minutes, can be found online at https://forms.office.com/r/G7GYnYeE4r. Survey takers should complete the survey by Monday, March 3. All responses will be kept confidential and anonymous.

On Nov. 19, 2024, the East Lansing City Council unanimously approved a request to engage Baker Tilly, a professional executive search firm, to assist with the police chief hiring process.
