EAST LANSING, MI— The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) today updated its investigation into the discovery of a deceased person found in the Red Cedar River, just east of Cedar Village, on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025.
The deceased individual is a middle-aged white female. The identity has not yet been officially confirmed and will require additional follow-up. ELPD will provide an update once the identity of the individual is confirmed.
As this investigation progresses, ELPD will continue to be transparent while maintaining the integrity of the case.
Currently available information does not lead investigators to believe there was foul play involved. While waiting for a toxicology report to be finalized, ELPD will continue to investigate all options and leads.
Investigators currently have no reason to believe there is an ongoing risk to public safety.
