Dear Readers,
Life is quite amazing. Spend time with those who are worth it. Those who are not worth spending your time with find another space for them. This summer, I have decided to spend more time with my family and it has been a hilarious time.
We spent time at Cedar Point in Ohio and I did not realize how brave my children are. They rode on rides that I would not even try. I decided to go on one of the simpler looking rides called the “Witches Wheel”. I think that I was screaming louder than any of my children did. One ride and that was it for me. Why should I scream for 3 minutes and be scared out of my wits. I watched my children ride some of the fastest rides in the country with ease and actually do it twice. Plunging into the sky at 120 miles per hour? When I was a child, the idea sounded great. As an adult, it is not really my cup of tea.
I was absolutely enthralled by the energy that the young people in the park had. I decided that I would just take it all in and be the doting mother by holding water bottles, wet jackets and $6.00 partially eaten elephant ears. I am still living through the smiles on their faces that day.
My 10-year-old daughter, Anissa, has decided that she is going to be a jazz and blues singer. Wow, did not see that coming. I let her sing at karaoke and then at Sir Pizza with the Kathy Ford Band.
She is singing about 12:30 pm on August 6, 2011 at Jazzfest in Old Town, I hope that you come out and support her. There are not too many little people who want to sing jazz or blues on their own. She is growing and I am learning more about her. My 9-year-old, Amir just got a harmonica. Hopefully, I will have two little people who will experience the joy of doing something different.
Spend the time with the people that make you smile. I am having the time of my life watching my children grow into little adults. What are you missing in your life? Who are the people that you miss the most. Capture it now because it may not come again.
