Lansing firefighters responded to a structure fire with reports of people trapped at 2007 New York Street on the City’s North side at 01:33 am on October 30.
Upon arrival, fire crews encountered very heavy fire conditions on the first and second floors of the house. Injured family members were outside reporting that three children were still inside the
house. After a very aggressive search in coordination with fire attack, all three children were located and removed from the house. All were transported to the hospital. There are seven
victims total from the fire, three are deceased. Names are being withhold until propernotifications are made.
The victims are:
Male – 31 years old – transported to Sparrow and has been transferred to University of Michigan Burn Center
Female – 26 years old – Transported to Sparrow and is in stable condition
5 year old – Transported to Sparrow and has been transferred to University of Michigan in Critical condition
18 month old – Transported to Sparrow and is in stable condition
8 year old – deceased
5 year old – deceased
3 year old – deceased
Additionally, the family dog was found deceased in the house. The fire is currently under investigation and further details will be released
as they become available.
