LANSING, MI – Patrice DeMyers is always on the run. Literally, her busy life includes being an author, wife, and mother to many. She also has a love for track and broke several records as a former star runner at Everett High School. She now coaches the girl’s and boy’s track team at Eastern Middle School, providing resources and guidance to potential future Olympic athletes.

As a Lansing native, she attended Lansing Community College (LCC) and Siena Heights University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater in 2009. When she was a student at Everett High School, she would sketch fashion designs every free moment that she had. DeMyers rediscovered her love and passion for fashion in her senior year and began her journey as a fashion designer.

DeMyers said, “While creating the fashion show clothing for my senior project at Siena Heights University (SHU), I realized this was something that I wanted to pursue in my life. I was in the bedroom of my apartment working for 13 hours without water or food. Later down the road, I realized the best way to learn is to actually sew the garments myself and as I gave it a try and took a few sewing classes, that is when I fell in love with handmade garments. I believe when a person actually goes through the process of how things are created, they will appreciate the craft more.”

Choosing a Name

Today, DeMyers is CEO and Founder of dəsentris clothing line. dəsentris name is built on family, faith, and relationships. De = Dai’Vion (Family), saint = Faith (Believe) tris = Patrice (Legacy) = dəsentris. She realized that she wanted a meaningful name that was built on a solid foundation.

“My goal is to build relationships with people while building dəsentris clothing line because, in our community of fashion, it is not just about the clothes but the people you meet along the way.”

While completing my senior project, the first person I thought of was my oldest nephew Dai’ Vion. That inspired me to think about my family because there was always someone or many who supported my dreams and pushed me to reach further in life without quitting. Even though they knew it was going to be a challenging path to get where I wanted to be. It’s a blessing to always have family or close friends who gave me
inspiration to this day and it continues today. Faith was important to include, I want to keep God close to everything that I do. By placing faith into my name it helps me remember the important things like believing in yourself and trusting the process,” expressed DeMyers.

Being the only person to graduate from a university in her family was a huge commitment, but DeMyers had an even greater accomplishment, creating a clothing line that signifies whatever your purpose is: “Do not give up, but continue to do the work and press forward.”

Believing in the Vision

“Through the years of trying to bring this vision to reality, there have been many challenges. Every obstacle that I went through was a learning experience and is a testimony for others who face struggles. I believe I am here to make a difference. Since then I have not given up on what I believe in and truly desire,” said DeMyers.

dəsentris is a digital platform for handmade women’s clothing, striving to deliver fashion that fits everyone. By offering a broad spectrum of colors, styles, and sizes, they empower people to look and feel incredible. Beyond fashion, we seek to inspire individuals to discover and embrace their purpose. Their unique designs are each meticulously crafted and sewn piece by piece.

DeMyers said, “My brand caters to fun, vibrant, elegant, professional, and unique people. People who want to dress up and feel comfortable with what they have on. Who doesn’t mind wearing knee-length dresses and skirts or blouses that flow with and off the body? With the styles that dəsentris brings to life with a stretch in every movement, I believe the brand gives the inspiration to help people look and feel beautiful wherever they go.”

The store also sells handcrafted jewelry. DeMyers’ goal is for dəsentris to have its own store-front and to book fashion shows nationally. She is also the author of “Delay & Success,” you can find it on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
