The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Aviation Consumer Protection (OACP) has fined JetBlue Airways Corporation $2 million for repeated violations related to chronically delayed flights. The violations, spanning from June 2022 to November 2023, involved four flights that were excessively delayed at least 145 times, breaching federal regulations under 49 U.S.C. § 41712 and 14 CFR 399.81.
The OACP’s investigation found that JetBlue continued to market and sell tickets for these flights despite their history of delays. In response, the agency has issued an order requiring JetBlue to cease and desist from similar practices in the future.
This action underscores the federal government’s commitment to protecting consumers from unfair and deceptive airline practices while emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in the aviation industry.
