Permanency Specialist
Responsibilities
The Permanency Specialist will provide a service to child welfare families and children involved in foster care that need permanency. Services will include:
o Assist with matching and placing Michigan Children’s Institute (MCI) wards and Permanent Court Wards with adoptive parents;
o To secure needed documentation to move children more quickly to permanency;
o To assist with and/or facilitate Permanency Planning Conferences as required by standards set forth by the Michigan Department of Human Services;
o Maintain compliance with the policies and standards set forth by the Board of Directors and relevant funding, certifying, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
o The Permanency Specialist must have a degree in Social Work or a related field.
o Experience will include a minimum of 2 years working with children and families in a child welfare service delivery system;
o Working knowledge and effective use of community resources; knowledge in strength-based philosophy and adoption-specific issues;
o Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures;
o Strong written and verbal communication skills;
o Reliable transportation and a valid Michigan driver’s license.
Hours: 30 hours per week and must be flexible and available to accommodate program needs.
