SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Footprints Coordinator, the Youth Services Staff position is responsible for the direct care of the youth entrusted to Peckham Incorporated.  Youth Services Staff have the responsibility of providing a safe, caring, team environment.  Additionally, Youth Services Staff will participate in the development, implementation, and documentation of each adolescent’s treatment plan, attend to personal, health, and behavioral needs of the adolescents and other duties including light housekeeping, assisting with homework, cooking, completing required paperwork, and participating with residents in their community activities and recreational activities.  Responsibilities include crisis intervention, and participation in clinical consultation and treatment conferences. Our contract requires this position be filled by a female staff person.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

3.    Provide a safe and caring environment.
4.    Maintain recordkeeping and documents.
5.    Utilize a team work approach for all projects.
6.    Promote Peckham’s vision, values, and services to all customers and stakeholders.
7.    Assist in maintaining organization wide quality standards.
8.    Maintain a safe and clean environment.
9.    Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
o    Must have a bachelor’s degree.
o    Some experience working with female adolescent and/or at-risk population is a plus.
o    Must be physically and emotionally capable of performing essential functions.
o    Must be willing to receive First Aid, CPR, restraint certification, and other applicable training.
o    Ability to provide transportation to people. Must maintain an unrestricted Michigan driver’s license, and maintain a driving record (as per approval by company insurance policy), to drive the company vehicle. Must have access to reliable transportation for frequent trips off site as needed.
o    Ability to work in a Child Caring Institution in accordance with the State of Michigan.  Must maintain a clean criminal background.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

This position requires passing and maintaining state security background checks.  Must have access to reliable transportation. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree and/or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and daily case notes.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to managers, residents, customers, and the general public. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
First Aid, CPR, restraint and other training may be obtained at hire.
