LANSING, MI — Attorney Carol Siemon announced that she is a Democratic candidate for Ingham County Prosecutor.“I am working for progressive changes in the criminal justice system,” said Ms. Siemon. “In my career as a prosecutor and as an attorney, I have never believed in ‘lock them up and throw away the key’ justice. I’ve worked to provide treatment to juvenile offenders, to stop child abuse, and to tackle the problem of minority overrepresentation in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems.”
Carol Siemon is an attorney from East Lansing who has eleven years of past experience as an Assistant Ingham County Prosecutor. She headed the Prosecutor’s juvenile division from 1991 – 1995 and supervised over 2,000 cases. From 1983-1991, she handled criminal cases in district and circuit courts.
Ms. Siemon also served as Child Abuse Training Coordinator for the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan and Director of the Child Welfare Training Institute for the Michigan Department of Human Services. As an Investigator and Legal Specialist with the Michigan Office of Children’s Ombudsman, she investigated child welfare agencies state-wide to ensure compliance with laws meant to protect children from abuse and neglect.
As a Senior Policy Consultant with Public Policy Associates in Lansing, Carol Siemon worked to support numerous juvenile justice projects, the Michigan Race Equity Coalition, and local projects throughout Michigan that tackled the problem of minority overrepresentation in the juvenile justice system and child welfare systems.
