LANSING, MI — Henry Meyer, owner of Eastside Fish Fry and Grill, is among the businesses finding ways to give back. He returned to Lansing and completed a vision to open a restaurant that would serve as a community hub.
Thirteen years later, the aroma of fried fish and chicken dishes wafting through the waiting area, customers greeting each other by name, and employees working with quiet confidence all reflect a space built on consistency and opportunity.
While Meyer has created opportunities for his employees, he has also created opportunities for local high school students to market themselves and their ambitions. Specialty meals have been named in honor of students, with a portion of the proceeds directed back to them. The initiative provides visibility, encouragement, and financial support at a formative stage in the athlete’s career.
That commitment to youth opportunity has now expanded to Name, Image, and Likeness Partnerships. Meyer has teamed up with student athlete Keyshawn “Showtime Key” Summerville in a collaboration that blends entrepreneurship, sports pride, and community engagement.
The partnership includes the official “Showtime Key” t-shirt release, available in youth and adult sizes in red and black colors. The first batch is limited, with pre-ordered shirts scheduled for pickup at Eastside Fish Fry. Additional production runs are expected to take roughly 10 to 14 days. Orders can be placed online at https://theoreticaltech.com/Keyshawn/
The collaboration also includes the “Showtime Key Meal,” available exclusively at Eastside Fish Fry, giving supporters a tangible way to connect with the athlete while supporting a local business.
An autograph event is planned at Eastside Fish Fry and Grill from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday. For $10, attendees receive a ready-to-frame photo of Summerville, an autograph, a personal photo with him, and his favorite dessert, three deep-fried Oreos, which will be sponsored by Fathers Who Care. The event is designed to be accessible, encouraging families and young fans to connect with a local athlete in a positive environment.
Summerville also has two major games scheduled this week, and community supporters are encouraged to attend. All funds go to the athlete.
