Warm atmosphere with good customer service
[Jo:] For this review, we decided to go for Middle Eastern Cuisine and the place where we knew we wouldn’t be disappointed was Sultan’s. The menu had lots of options, the prices were reasonable, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was very comfortable. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our server and noticed that the restaurant was also very crowded.
[Mo:] I have no problem with restaurants being crowded! That means that the patrons know what’s good! We have ordered from Sultan’s in the past and loved their hummus. It was so great that it inspired us to attempt to recreate that flavor at home. Either we tried to make it ourselves (unsuccessful) or purchase some at local health food stores (also unsuccessful). We have concluded that the only place to get hummus of that quality was at Sultan’s.
[Jo:] Let’s not forget their other side dishes. There has never been anything I haven’t liked. As far as variety goes, you could choose falafel, cous cous, or tabouli. All of their sides wouldn’t be complete without their freshly made pita bread.
[Mo:] I ordered the “Half Deboned Chicken” which included one breast and two thighs of well-seasoned chicken served with assorted vegetables. Although the chicken was charbroiled, it was so tender. The dish came with a side of yogurt that created a wonderful blend with the spiciness of the chicken. AWESOME!
[Jo:] I couldn’t decide what I wanted so I ordered the “Chicken Combo Dinner” which included samples of three of their chicken entrées: “Deboned Chicken” (what Mo had), “Chicken Kabob” and “Chicken Shawarma”. The chicken kabob was skewered chicken breast chunks that were charbroiled with vegetables. The chicken shawarma was marinated chicken pieces that were roasted to perfection.
[Mo:] In addition, we ordered the “Fried Kibbee”. The simple way to describe it is that they are deep fried lamb burgers (I’m sure this description is not doing them justice). They were stuffed with sautéed lamb, onions and spices and nuts. It was also served with yogurt. The best!
[Jo:] Kibbee! There’s that word again. I love saying that.
[Mo:] Well, we loved eating it! The dish came with six pieces but I sure wish that we had ordered more.
[Jo:] We could end this review right here but we would have neglected an important feature of Sultan’s and that is their fresh juices and smoothies.
[Mo:] All of their juices were 100% “freshly squeezed and prepared”. Their smoothies included a base of strawberries, bananas and honey and can be mixed with either Mango, Orange or Guava juice.
[Jo:] I had the Guava smoothie and it was delicious. From the looks of Mo (she had the Mango smoothie) I didn’t see any signs of disappointment.
[Mo:] Sultan’s is a place that we will dine time and time again. It may be crowded when you arrive but please be patient. It is definitely worth the wait!
[Jo:] Kibbee!
