In June of 1992, Elder Samuel Duncan and Evangelist Dorothy Duncan were installed as Pastor & 1st Lady of the Lansing COGIC. Four years later, in June of 1996, while serving as his Administrative Assistant, Jurisdictional Prelate – Bishop Marvin C. Pryor, selected him to serve as Superintendent of the C. H. Mason District while continuing his duties as Administrative Assistant.
Known for his character, integrity and wisdom within the community,Elder Duncan is on a quest to minister to the whole man, Spirit and Body, while setting new standards in ministry for the Christian and the world.
Elder Duncan is also the CEO of New Faith Ministries (501c3 Non-Profit Organization). Armed with a spiritual and moral agenda, New Faith Ministries seeks to effectively utilize its collective influence among community and political leadership to benefit Lansing residents, and to respond to the challenges and issues that face the Greater Lansing Area.
In 1993, Elder Duncan sent out a distress call to reach those souls crying out for spiritual assistance; who were dying – not knowing Jesus Christ as their Savior. The Lansing COGIC launched S.O.S (Save One Soul), in an effort to double the church membership by reaching the lost.
Under Elder Duncan’s leadership, the membership has grown, Church boards, missionaries, and auxiliaries are functioning. The choir is rejuvenated. The pulpit is filled with ministers, and our weekly services have grown.
A new 9400 square ft. addition, consisting of administrative offices, conference room, nursery, computer lab, classrooms, bookstore, and restrooms was completed in 1998.
Lansing Church of God in Christ is in the last stages of unveiling an innovative domestic violence program entitled "H.O.W. Ministries – Heal, Overcome and Win" and will seek to address domestic abuse from a faith based perspective.
Chairperson Wanda Price explained, "Our mission is to work to build safe, healthy and respectful relationships by offering each individual the opportunity to address domestic abuse issues and improve relationships, while protecting the abused and, when possible, maintain the family unit."
Elder and Evangelist Duncan are the parents of 2 children , Elder Samuel "Cisco" Duncan, IV (Benita), and Shayla (Sheldon); grandparents of 2.
As 1st Lady, Evangelist/Missionary Dorothy Duncan has a very active role in the church ministries. In addition, she has a very successful ministry of her own. She is a frequent speaker around the mid-Michigan area.
