MSU Student Startup Lands $300,000 Deal on ‘Shark Tank’

EAST LANSING, MI — A student built startup from Michigan State University (MSU) has gained national attention and a major investment after appearing on Shark Tank, according to MSU Today.

Madhave Aggarwal and Tanvi Gadamsetti, co-founders of BRCĒ, secured a $300.000 deal for 20% of their company during the March 4, 2026 episode.  The investment came from guest shark Fawn Weaver and Daniel Lubetzky after pitching their idea to the panel.

BRCĒ, pronounced “brace,” is a company focused on improving sports safety.  Their main product is a special type of shoelace designed to stay tied, helping prevent ankle injuries caused by loose laces.

The idea started while the two founders were still students at MSU.  They used campus resources, including the Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which helps students turn ideas into real businesses through mentorship, competitions, and hands-on-experience.

In the article, Aggarwal said that being on Shark Tank was a full circle moment and allowed them to grow what they have been building from the beginning.”

Before appearing on the show, BRCĒ had already won and placed in several national competitions, helping the company gain attention and support early.  Their appearance enabled them to present their business to millions of viewers and connect with experienced investors.

With new funding and national exposure, the founders plan to expand their business, reach more athletes and others, and continue developing new products.

From a MSU classroom idea to a deal on national television BRCĒ’s journey shows what is possible when students take their ideas seriously and use the resources around them.
