NEWSTREAM — Comprised of 60 Sec Assassin, Prodigal Sunn and Hell Razah, Wu Tang Clan offspring Sunz of Man are set to release a new album on September 3rd, titled Savior’s Day.
With appearances on albums like ODB’s Return To The 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version and GZA’s Liquid Swords, Sunz of Man quickly found their way to a solo project and in 1998 The Last Shall Be First was released and established Sunz of Man as the most prominent Wu-Fam group. The album’s producers included RZA and Wyclef Jean.
In high demand for guest appearances, the group appeared on soundtracks like Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai and Blazin’ and also appeared on the Wu Tang Killa Bees album Swarm. The busy group even took time out to make a cameo appearance on an episode of the hit series Sex and the City.
Sunz of Man’s latest effort, Savior’s Day features appearances by Wu Fam friends Ghostface Killah, RZA and Method Man. Their unique approach to hip hop is one of lyrical conscience. Hell Razah says, “These days hip hop seems more like a fad, a fashion show with everybody dressin’ up N’ talkin’ ’bout their cars N’ all the money they got when that ain’t really how things are where they’re from.” The first single off the album, also titled “Savior’s Day” features Ghostface Killah and is going for adds now.
“We’re of one mind when it comes to writin’,” explains Prodigal Sunn. “We’re comin’ from a spiritual – political perspective, and what distinguishes us from the rest is our vocabulary, styles and personalities. We have originality.”
Savior’s Day will be released on September 3rd.
