Newly Appointed Bishop Samuel Duncan, Jr. of Lansing Church of God in Christ

LANSING, MI — In June of 1992, Pastor Samuel Duncan and Evangelist Dorothy Duncan were installed as Pastor and 1st Lady of the  Lansing Church of God of in Christ (COGIC).The church is located at 5304 Wise Road, Lansing MI. 48911. In June of 1996, 4 years later, while serving as his Administrative Assistant, Jurisdictional Prelate – Bishop Marvin C. Pryor, selected him to serve as Superintendent of the C. H. Mason District while continuing his duties as Administrative Assistant.

For 18 years, Duncan has served as pastor of the Lansing COGIC. He was elevated to the Office of Bishop of Southwest Michigan 3rd Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction at the 103rd Holy Convocation of the Churches of God in Christ, in St. Louis, Missouri on November 15, 2010.

The Inaugural Celebration Banquet celebrating Pastor Samuel Duncan’s elevation to Bishop within the COGIC will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Causeway Bay Hotel & Conference Center, 6820 South Cedar Street, Lansing, Michigan.  The keynote speaker will be Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake.

Bishop Duncan will now oversee about 30 churches in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Saginaw, and South Haven.  Bishop Duncan will provide oversight and leadership for the pastors and churches under his charge.

The COGIC has been in existence for 104 years, and is the largest Pentecostal denomination and second largest African-American denomination in the United States with over five million members.

Elder and Evangelist Duncan are the parents of 2 children , Elder Samuel “Cisco” Duncan, IV (Benita), and Shayla (Sheldon); grandparents of 2.

As 1st Lady, Evangelist/Missionary Dorothy Duncan has a very active role in the church ministries. In addition, she has a very successful ministry of her own. She is a frequent speaker around the mid-Michigan area.

Service times at the Lansing COGIC are as follows:  Sunday School 9 a.m., Sunday Worship 10:30 a.m. & 6 p.m., Wednesday Worship 7 p.m.
